Kairos
Mon projet artistique se concentre autour d’un mot : Kairos.

Dans la pensée grecque, le Kairos désigne l’instant juste : un moment où le temps semble suspendu et où quelque chose d’essentiel peut advenir. Un temps vécu de l’intérieur, propice à la rencontre, à la révélation et à une forme de communion.

Par la voix improvisée, je cherche à faire émerger cet instant. Primitive et universelle, la voix devient pour moi un espace de présence et un passage entre le corps et l’espace, la mémoire et le présent, le visible et l’invisible.

L’improvisation est au cœur de ma démarche. Je ne cherche pas à imposer une forme préétablie, mais à me placer dans un état d’écoute et de disponibilité. Le lieu, son acoustique, son atmosphère, les musiciens, le public et ce qui survient dans l’instant participent pleinement à la création.

La performance se construit ainsi dans la relation. J’écoute, je réponds, je me laisse transformer par ce qui m’entoure. Chaque intervention devient unique et ne pourrait se reproduire à l’identique : elle appartient à ce lieu, à ces présences et à cet instant précis.

Bio vocale

D’origine péruvienne et issue d’une famille de musiciens, Monica Perez-Albela développe une pratique vocale nourrie par cet héritage musical et par son parcours artistique entre le Pérou et la Suisse.

Formée au chant à l’EJMA Valais et au Conservatoire cantonal du Valais, elle s’est progressivement détachée d’une approche conventionnelle du chant pour explorer la voix autant comme instrument que comme matière plastique et sonore vivante. L’improvisation occupe une place centrale dans cette recherche, qui se prolonge également à travers les installations sonores et l’exploration des relations entre son, espace et perception.

Sa recherche actuelle explore la voix dans ses interactions avec le corps, l’espace intime et l’environnement. Elle développe parallèlement plusieurs collaborations autour de l’improvisation et des traditions musicales péruviennes.

Kairos

My artistic project revolves around one word: Kairos.

In Greek thought, Kairos refers to the right moment: a moment when time seems suspended and something essential can emerge. It is time experienced from within, opening a space for encounter, revelation, and a form of communion.

Through improvised voice, I seek to bring this moment into being. Primordial and universal, the voice becomes for me a space of presence and a passage between body and space, memory and the present, the visible and the invisible.

Improvisation lies at the heart of my practice. Rather than imposing a predetermined form, I enter a state of listening and openness. The place, its acoustics and atmosphere, the musicians, the audience, and whatever arises in the moment all become integral to the creative process.

The performance thus takes shape through relationship. I listen, I respond, and allow myself to be transformed by what surrounds me. Each performance is unique and cannot be reproduced in exactly the same way: it belongs to that place, to those present, and to that precise moment.

Biography

Of Peruvian origin and born into a family of musicians, Monica Perez-Albela has developed a vocal practice shaped by this musical heritage and by her artistic journey between Peru and Switzerland.

Trained in voice at EJMA Valais and the Conservatoire cantonal du Valais, she gradually moved away from a conventional approach to singing to explore the voice both as an instrument and as a living sculptural and sonic material. Improvisation is central to this research, which also extends into sound installation and the exploration of relationships between sound, space, and perception.

Her current research explores the voice in its interactions with the body, intimate space, and the surrounding environment. In parallel, she develops several collaborations centred on improvisation and Peruvian musical traditions.
